Fundraising
The Othona Community has always tried to keep its costs low so that no one would be prevented from staying because they could not afford it. To this end we have bursaries and reduced rates for those on low incomes.
However it was easier to keep costs low when the centres were run almost entirely by volunteers. This is no longer possible now that both centres are open all year and because of the increasing demands of health and safety legislation.
Othona has in the past benefited greatly from the generosity of its members and well wishers, and this is more important than ever if we are to be able to keep costs as low as possible, and also to continue to develop as our old buildings decline and need replacing.
We have two special and urgent projects at present for which more than half the funds have already been raised.
At the Bradwell Centre we are raising funds to replace our unreliable generator with mains electricity. At the Burton Bradstock Centre we have to replace our warden's accommodation. We need your support. If you Gift Aid your donation the government will give us an extra 28%.
Thank you.
