What to expect
Othona Bradwell is a unique centre seeped in history and surrounded by all that nature has to offer. We are sited in an area of Special Scientic Interest (SSI) on the beautiful Blackwater Eustary.
Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Othona encourages people of all ages from all backgrounds to come and simply ‘be’. Spiritual and/or personal growth is not uncommon. Founded on Christian principles, yet drawing inspiration from many other faiths and cultures, Othona provides opportunities for daily worship.
Providing its own electricity with a growing ‘garden to table’ culture, Othona prides itself on true sustainability, providing meals for guests from breakfast to dinner.

Othona’s Food
Shared Dining
Sharing food together is a very important part of life at Othona. We have a large community kitchen where others are encouraged to contribute to meal preparation and we value the addition of new recipes and methods to the food offering here.
We grow some of the fruit and vegetables here and appreciate any offers of help with food harvesting and prepration. We buy the majority of our fruit and veg from a local wholesaler and our meat is sourced from a local butcher- the Secret Butcher based in Burnham-on-Crouch.
These times of seating and eating are very important for getting to know other members of the community and a chance to have interesting conversations with old and new friends.
Structure of the day

Community jobs
We encourage those staying to join in with some of the simple but vital jobs that help to keep the community running. These include washing up, laying out clearing takes for meals or helping in the preparation of vegetables. We make sure to accommodate any limitations in what you can do.
Chapel
Everyone is invited to come along to our informal services, which usually take pace in the beautiful nearby St Peter-on-the Wall Chapel. These services are very inclusive and we invite those staying to take part if they wish to. The services may include bible readings, hymns, poetry and a time for sharing thoughts from the day as well as prayers.
