Much Ado About Something

A special event for Othona Members

    Friday 19th March 2027  to Sunday 21st March 2027

Space is available on this event!

Book covers by and about Norman Motley, featuring Much Ado About Something

Last summer Othona relaunched its Membership scheme. So now we are offering occasional events specifically for members to get together, enjoy time in community, and explore what 'belonging with Othona' in this way can mean.

Much Ado About Something is the title that Norman Motley, our founder, gave to his book about the community's early years. This weekend will be.a chance for Members - long-established or recently signed up.- to meet and enjoy a varied diet of past, present and future Othona. Do you have ideas? Are you blessed with skills you'd like to contribute more to this community?

We'll look at bits of Othona's history together, share some of our own stories and consider where the Community may be going in future.

    The weekend will include:

    • a focus on the heritage and future of Othona as an open Christian community
    • meet-and-relax time
    • news and ideas from both Othona centres
    • something special from our history
    • a Saturday Open Day when those members who can't attend the rest can come and join in

This event isn't a decision-making forum, but without doubt everyone from trustees to core community teams will be keen to hear more of the stories and ideas of a wide range of members.

Norman always said that community life combines work, worship, study and play; there will be some of all four as we meet in this 81st year of Othona's existence!

NOTE: Being a Member is a way you can indicate your support for Othona's aims and potentially be more involved in various ways. To consider whether this is for you, please go to our Membership Page.

    Very Special Pricing

The main event will run from 6.00pm supper on Friday 19th March to after lunch on Sunday 21st. The weekend is priced accordingly. But we welcome members' presence in advance to help us prepare the house and afterwards to put things back where they belong!

So if you book for this weekend you will actually be welcome to arrive any time after 11.00am on Thursday 18th and to stay up until 11.00am on Monday 22nd. Just as long as we know in advance! And there will be no extra charge - only anything you choose to donate. Place your booking for 19th - 21st and we'll be in touch to ask if you plan to come earlier or leave later.
