Treasure the Questions
A celebration of the music of Martyn Joseph, exploring the questions his songs raise about our lives and our world - with some live input from Martyn himself!
Friday 19th February 2027 to Monday 22nd February 2027
Space is available on this event!

Martyn Joseph is one of this country's most compelling and most thoughtful singer-songwriters. The 'Welsh Springsteen' is a fine guitarist too, touring in America and Canada as well as the UK. His solo performances are a regular highlight of the Greenbelt Festival, where his profound and questioning spiritual journey finds an echo in so many of us.
Powerful lyrics sung from the heart - whether about love, protest or spiritual yearning - what can be more expressive of our deepest selves?
This long weekend gives us the chance to soak in Martyn's music and reflect together on some of the themes he's explored so eloquently: songs of journeying, songs of protest and songs of hope.
And the most exciting bonus is that Martyn plans to join us for a live Q&A session by Zoom
The weekend is facilitated by devoted MJ fan Rhian Taylor and Othona warden Tony Jaques.
All the main music-and-discussion sessions of the weekend will finish by lunchtime on Sunday, so if you have to get home for work on Monday you need not miss them. Sunday evening will be a relaxed time with the chance for further opportunities to enjoy the music/videos of Martyn Joseph, conversations with new friends, and hopefully some singing together around Othona’s log fire.
Othona is in a gorgeous spot overlooking Lyme Bay. Staying in the community you can walk through National Trust meadows to the beach, relax in the library or art studio, play games, make music or just make friends. The house chapel is a beautiful sacred space and, like Othona as a whole, 'open to people of all faiths and none'. Food is lovingly home-cooked with lots of homegrown produce.
