Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers

    Monday 18th to Friday 22nd January 2027

Space is available on this event

Let's talk about asylum seekers, why they come, what they find, and how we can help. Let's consider the facts and the fears. Let's consider solutions as well as problems. Let's even meet one!

Susan has hosted refugees for quite a few years, through a small but excellent charity called Refugees at Home. She is well aware that many of us need to learn more the facts and half truths before deciding where we stand and how we can help. So this retreat is a space to be in a beautiful place, to be still and listen to one another and to God as we wrestle with this highly charged topic and learn to see it rather as real people and real lives.

Mother Susan Sayers has a long association with the Othona Community and has run previous retreats here. She is a great supporter of the oppressed and marginalised and will help us to consider our response as a community and as individuals to those seeking asylum in this country. Susan has hosted a number of refugees in her home over the years and she will be co-presenting this event with one of her many refugee friends.

Susan is a teacher by profession and was ordained into the Anglican Church. She has written many books for Churches and individuals. Her aim is always to help people of all ages on their faith journey.
