Sad news regarding Barbara ‘Babs’

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that our friend Barbara, ‘Babs’, passed away on 24/10/26.

Barb had been part of Othona Bradwell since the late 1970s. She adored Othona and often said how fortunate she felt to have found it. She loved getting to know the wonderful variety of people it attracts.

Although shy, Barb was so curious and loved listening to people’s stories, the music and the spontaneous humour shared with you all.

Barb also brought countless people to Othona, and as a result, many people connected to the ‘Rugby’ contingent have fallen in love with Bradwell over the years.

Over the last few weeks, there was so much love flowing to her and from her. It was wonderful, and she couldn’t quite believe how loved she was and how important she was in our lives. Modest to the end.

The first picture was taken in August 2026 and the second picture is from when Barb visited Hamburg in 1981.

Barb was 80, the same age as Othona, and she was delighted and so happy that Othona was still going strong.

Plans to say goodbye and celebrate Barb’s life will be shared soon.
